Cálida is a light fixture designed in the home, for the home.
The creation of this object was inspired by a love and appreciation for Mexican modernist architecture. The Mexican modernist approach blends brutalist practicality with a deep sensibility for the human experience. It is evident especially in Mexico City, with its many iconic museums, public spaces, and forward thinking neighborhoods. This approach to design blends romanticism with functionality. Expression and rationality.
In Spanish, cálida means ‘warm’. Warmth is what I think of when I teleport myself back to the streets of Mexico City.
